Rüdiger Rolf has a degree in Computational Linguistics and Artificial intelligence. He works since 2002 as a researcher at the University of Osnabrück, Germany. One of his focuses was automated lecture recordings, where he was co-founder of the Opencast open-source video-management system.
Currently he is deputy head of the Center for Digital Teaching, Information Management and Higher Education Didactics (virtUOS).
