Sónia Hetzner

Sonia Hetzner is the manageing director of the competence center education (formerly Innovation in Learning Institute) at FAU. She is an expert in digital education and learning innovation, serving as the coordinator of the AI Competence in Digital Education (KI-Komp) project at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU). With extensive experience in higher education pedagogy, technology-enhanced learning, and faculty development, she plays a key role in fostering AI and media literacy among educators and students.
As part of the KI-Komp project, she leads efforts to design and implement interdisciplinary learning formats that promote the responsible and effective use of AI in higher education. She promotes a co-creation approach, bringing together educators, students, and experts to collaboratively develop AI literacy and ethical AI application strategies.
With a strong background in instructional design, Sonia Hetzner has contributed to numerous national and international projects related to digital transformation in education. She is a member of the board and served as the President until April 2025 of the Media and Learning Association .
