Lana Scott

In 2013, Ms. Scott assumed the new role of Manager, Media Services, MITx with the Open Learning department at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In addition to her responsibilities for maintaining relationships with the broader MIT community of faculty, course teams and staff, Ms. Scott has taken an active role in the development and execution of an online media strategy for MITx. Previously at Harvard Business Publishing (HBP), Ms. Scott held the role of Lead Video Producer, Product Development, responsible for the overall project flow, development, design, production and post-production of media within online learning products. Ms. Scott earned her BA in Communications and Film Studies from The Catholic University of America, Washington, DC in 2001 and her MA in Visual and Media Arts concentrating in fictional narrative production from Emerson College, Boston, MA in 2004. Over the past 15 years her work has largely focused on video production and management. Ms. Scott has been working at MIT within MITx for 5 years and has held roles from media production specialist of MOOC creation to her current role as the Manager, Media Services. As the Manager of Media Services for MITx, Ms. Scott manages a team of 4 employees and 5 to 7 contract videographers and editors to support faculty in the creation and management of media-based educational materials throughout the entire media process. This is a hands-on management position that includes team management, resource planning, process management, technical standards and documentation, special projects and training.
