Prof Stuart Perrin

Professor Stuart Perrin currently is working as the Chief Officer of (Education) Ecology at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) in China. In his role, Professor Perrin is responsible for implementing, monitoring, maintaining, and assessing the university’s operational ecosystem, as well as enhancing its global influence. Before this role, he served as the initial Associate Principal at the Entrepreneur College (Taicang), where he was instrumental in developing the XJTLU Entrepreneur College (Taicang) concept. In addition to developing seven new industry-themed schools, Professor Perrin also explored the university’s unique Syntegrative Education model within the new campus. Professor Perrin has also held senior university level positions in Learning & Teaching, and Internationalisation. Professor Stuart Perrin was appointed the first Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (PFHEA) within the university in 2020, and one of the first within mainland China. Before joining Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, Professor Perrin held positions at several higher education institutions in London and at various private educational providers in the UK. He is an active researcher, focusing the future role of the university, the relationship between language and identity in English-Medium Instruction (EMI) settings, language policy, English as a Lingua Franca, and academic literacies.
