Jane McGarrigle, Project Officer with Webwise (the Irish Internet Safety Awareness Centre); Jane will present two recent digital media literacy programmes developed by Webwise. HTML Heroes (an award winning primary programme) introduces primary children to the online world, how it works and how to safely navigate the internet. The online programme includes videos, lessons, activities and online games. Jane will also give an overview of the recently developed Connected Programme, a digital media literacy resource for teens exploring online wellbeing, false information, big data, privacy and rights online. This programme gives students an understanding of the role of digital technologies, their rights in the digital world and will help students develop key digital media literacy skills to responsibly navigate the online world.
