Kevin Nolan

Kevin Nolan is an Assistant Professor at the School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, University College Dublin with considerable experience in industry. Dr Nolan has extensive expertise in experimental fluid mechanics including techniques such as Particle Image Velocimetry and Schlieren. His recent work has focused on mitigating viral infection and surgical smoke during laparoscopic surgery as part of the PORSAV H2020 project. His previous work in Bell Labs was concerned with thermal management of photonics devices using novel viscoelastic microfludic heat exchangers. He uses sophisticated 3D animation and interactive media in his teaching to help students better understand complex and abstract concepts in fluid mechanics.
