Emerald Grimshaw

Emerald Grimshaw completed her Undergraduate degree in Psychology and Masters in Developmental Psychopathology at Durham University, UK. During her time at Durham, she worked as a Research Assistant in Professor Dorothy Cowie’s lab and worked on a range of projects including: the development of motor skills in children with limb differences; exploring body ownership in Virtual Reality; and investigating the factors predicting innovation abilities in children ranging from 3- to 11-years-old.

Emerald is now in the third year of her PhD in the Psychology department at Durham University. Her current research explores how Immersive Virtual Reality can be utilised as an educational tool in the classroom for children aged 7- to 13-years-old. She is particularly interested in how the unique interactive, immersive and multisensory features of IVR contribute to a successful learning experience.
