Eline Wydooghe

Eline Wydooghe is a dedicated veterinarian who graduated in 2009 with a strong specialization in small animal reproduction and fertility. She spent 12 years at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Ghent University, where she combined clinical work in the university clinic with teaching practical sessions for veterinary medicine students. During this time, she earned her ECAR diplomate status and completed her PhD in 2018. Her research brought her into contact with various laboratory animals and led to active roles as a member of Ghent University’s ethical committee and the Taskforce Dog.
Since 2022, Eline has been working at VIVES University of Applied Sciences, where she combines teaching and scientific research. Among other courses, she teaches 'Laboratory Animal Science' to students in Agro- and Biotechnology programs, specializing in Animal Care and Biotechnology, as well as to external students. In the animal care program, animal welfare is emphasized as a core value throughout the curriculum. Her research at VIVES, as part of the 'Animal Behaviour' research group, focuses on the social skills of dogs, particularly their interactions with unfamiliar people.
Known for her natural curiosity, Eline is always eager to explore new ideas and approaches—whether in veterinary science, education, or even experimenting with innovative technologies like XR.
