Sophie Vériter

Sophie L. Vériter is a political scientist and creative entrepreneur working at the intersection of technology, politics, and democracy. She brings over a decade of experience in research on public policy, misinformation, and democratic resilience, combined with hands-on roles in public diplomacy and strategic communications.
Sophie is the founder of the Global Society Foundation and the project lead of SpeakUp, a gamified civic-technology initiative that reimagines democratic participation as a fun, everyday practice. Her interest in playful and experiential tech design emerged through her work as co-founder of the Level Up Research Lab, a spinout from The Europaeum at Oxford, where she explored how gamification can enhance community participation and collective problem-solving, most specifically in the context of European Citizens' Panels.
Previously, Sophie designed and led the Young European Ambassadors network across 34 countries for the European Union. This experience shaped her approach to transnational community-building, rooted in culture and conviviality. She has worked across Europe with institutions including the European Commission, the Council of Europe, and NATO, and is actively engaged in the democracy innovation ecosystem. She holds a MPhil in Politics from the University of Oxford and a PhD in Security and Global Affairs from Leiden University.
