Denise Mensonides

Dr. Denise Mensonides is a postdoctoral researcher at the Research Centre for Media and Journalism Studies at the University of Groningen with a background in law and pedagogical sciences and holds a PhD in Media and Journalism Studies. Her doctoral research ‘Navigating the digital playground: a child-centred study on the development of digital literacies’ examines how children (8-12) develop digital literacies in ways that are personally meaningful and how these processes are situated in various social contexts.
In her current role as postdoctoral researcher within the project ‘DigiMig: Migrant generations in the digital society’, she studies how policymakers engage and position migrant communities in shaping digital literacy and digital inclusion policies. Her research interests include playful approaches to digital literacy development, citizenship, digital inclusion, child-centred methodologies, and children’s digital media uses.
