Iuliia Chaplinska

Dr Iuliia Chaplinska is a Research Associate at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, holding a PhD in Psychology. Her research focuses on the intersection of psychology and digital technologies, particularly digital and media literacy, cyberpsychology, and digital inclusion. With over a decade of research experience, she has investigated how media and emerging technologies influence human behaviour, perceptions, and social relationships. Her work spans media effects, parasocial relationships, cyber-socialisation, and the psychological and societal implications of artificial intelligence and robotics. More recently, her research has focused on digital opportunities and risks for young people, the effectiveness of digital and media literacy interventions, and the accessibility and inclusiveness of digital environments, particularly for neurodivergent populations. She is also interested in how scientific evidence can inform educational practices, technological development, and public policy.
